2011: Catching The Duke's Eye

BertART begun the New Year with a bang, with a glossy exhibition at Quadro Art. All the people who know and love Bert's art came to see the weekend show, and were surprised by a visit from the Duke of Devonshire.

It was a fantastic opportunity to meet the Duke, who is a discerning art lover. He enjoyed the new views of Derbyshire tremendously and said 'This is the most exciting new artist for Derbyshire', as he kindly cut the red ribbon for the show. Visitors included Mary Nash, the mystery Lady in an Olive Dress, who provided insight and fascinating first hand stories about Bert himself.

Having enjoyed the show in January, the Duke posted a blog on the Chatsworth website. Let's hope future exhibitions of Bert's works take place at Chatsworth!
June Ghosts is currently hanging in the foyer of the science block, the Harry Kroto building at Sheffield University. Nobel Prize winner in chemistry, Sir Harry Kroto was kind enough to invite BertART, along with other special guests who have produced podcasts for Sheffield University for a summer luncheon.
Bert's painting of two Venetian boats, 'Blue Drift' was on show in The Derbyshire as part of Bakewell Arts Festival.
By summer Bakewell W.I. were enjoying Bert's paintings, and uncovering some of the locations of unknown views. Like others, they have emailed the website for reproductions of their favourite pictures. Bert's book will be finding it's way into the local Derbyshire libraries.
